Are You Prepared For Your Death?

Devotion for Friday August 11, 2017

Topic: Are You Prepared For Your Death?

Text: Hebrew 9:27 – 28

The issue of death was decreed by God when Man fell off His glory. So death coming to Man is not a strange thing. Death is a passage to eternity. The place where we will stay in eternity is determined by the way we live our lives on earth before we die. Jesus taught that there is eternity which comprises of eternal life or eternal condemnation (John 5:27 – 29).  At death, every man’s final state is determined. The fixed order for all men is to die once, and to be judged after death. When they die, finality is tamped on their work on earth. The death is the result of this appointment (Genesis 3:9). The cause of the appointment is sin (Romans 6:23) and the appointment with death is for all men whether godly or ungodly.

How are you preparing for your death? Robin Sharma said in his book, WHO WILL CRY WHEN YOU DIE that if someone desire to live well, he should often organize his funeral. Robin Sharma’s idea will certainly help us to number our days and live well as the Psalmist asserted. Do you live your life as if death and judgement will never come? Do you oppress people because you feel they are inconsequential?

The judgement awaiting us after death will be based on the way we live our lives here on earth (John 5:29). There is need to prepare yourself for death on daily basis because it can come at any time and any age. Start the preparation now because it will determine where you will spend your eternity.

Food for Thought: “Death to the Christian is the funeral of all his sorrows and evils and the resurrection of all his joys” – John H. Aughey

Memory verse: Hebrews 9:27

Prayer: Lord, may I daily prepare myself for my death and judgement so as to escape eternal condemnation in Jesus name.

Courage Leads To Miracle

Devotion for Monday May 29, 2017

Topic: Courage Leads To Miracle

Text: 2 Kings 7:3 – 4

Many people have failed because they were unwillingness to make attempt on their dreams. Many, out of fear and doubt have missed opportunities to advance in life and make good progress. A good example in the Bible was Saul who couldn’t dare confront Goliath. David a youth did and God honoured his faith. Saul failed because he didn’t attempt. God would have empowered him to face Goliath.

These four lepers had no other option as far as their survival in that period of famine was concerned. Death was staring them at the face because of the famine. If they stay put to the place they were, death will come. If they go into the enemies’ camp, death may come but there is also opportunity of getting food to eat. So they decided to venture into the enemies’ camp. They did not just think about it, they took action (2 Kings 7:5). To the surprise of the lepers there was no enemy in the camp (2 Kings 7:6). They’ve all fled because God had caused them to flee after hearing a mysterious sound of what seems like the coming of a mighty troop against them. God will cause your enemies to give way before you appear in Jesus name.

Are you afraid to make an attempt concerning that business, examination, project, proposal to that lady about marriage, appeal for help and assistance, etc? Ask God to remove fear from you and grant you the spirit of boldness. The lepers had enough to eat and were not selfish (2 Kings 7:9 – 11). Are you selfish with what God has blessed you with? Repent and learn to share what you have with others. It is my prayer and desire that this year, as you bravely act upon the word of God because doors will certainly open for you. Favour will always meet with you. Know that the greatest obstacles to your receiving are fear and doubt. Just believe God you can make it this year in Jesus name.

Food for Thought: You have 50 – 50 chance of getting what you want from God and people by asking than not attempting at all.

Memory verse: 2 Kings 7 verse 4b

Prayer: God, grant me the spirit of courage to dare and venture in my endeavours in Jesus name.

Can Man Stop God’s Plan?

Devotion for Easter Eve Saturday April 15, 2017

Topic: Can Man Stop God’s Plan?

Text: Matthew 27:62 – 66

The answer to the question that formed our topic for the day is emphatically NO. It is not possible that a creature will thwart or overturn the plan of his or her Creator. God intended that Man should disperse and live all over the earth but they chose to build the Tower of Babel. He changed their language and out of frustration, they dispersed.

God’s plan of salvation for man includes the death and resurrection of Christ. After His burial, the Chief priest and the Pharisees came to Pilate to secure the tomb of Jesus Christ so that His disciples will not come and remove His body and claim He has resurrected. They were permitted to do so and “They went and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone and setting the guard.” Unfortunately, they were disappointed (Matthew 28:1 – 7).

Beloved, God is assuring you today that all His plans and purposes for your life will be fulfilled. His intension is to give you an expected end, though not necessarily the things of this world. So when the things of this world are not manifesting for you, it does not mean that God hates you. All He wants is to take you to a place of eternal bliss not a place of temporal bliss. Perhaps some people are thinking that they will sit upon God’s blessings in your marriage; your office, your children, your work, your business, your health, etc. God will disappoint them by lifting them off from those blessings. Then the blessings will begin to manifest for you in Jesus name.

Food for Thought: There is no amount of gang up and manipulations of the enemies that can frustrate God’s plan for us.

Memory verse: Matthew 27 verse 66

Prayer: Heavenly Father, frustrate every plan to block my salvation and blessing from manifesting in Jesus name. Amen.

Truly This Is The Son Of God

Devotion for Good Friday April 14, 2017

Topic: Truly This Is The Son Of God

Text: Matthew 27:50 – 61

The events at the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ were pointers that He is truly the Son of God as the Centurion rightly observed in our text. The temple curtain tearing apart, the earthquake, the darkness, rocks splitting, etc, were not ordinary. God used it to show the world that Jesus is indeed the Messiah.

His death, therefore, could not have gone unnoticed. Everyone knew something significant had happened and one of them was the centurion who led the people to crucify Him. He acknowledged that truly Jesus is the Son of God. Luke’s account has it that the centurion attested that Jesus is a righteous man (Lk. 23:47). Jesus yielded His spirit to death because He had to fulfil the desires and will of the Father. He was submissive even unto death. This centurion confessed that Jesus was a righteous man and Son of God after seeing the miraculous signs which happened at His death.

Today, we commemorate His death which led to the forgiveness of our sins. Have you actually known Him as the Son of God? Have you accepted that ultimate sacrifice He made for humanity? It is of uttermost importance that we use this period to assess and re-examine our relationship with Christ. What we have heard and read about Him are enough for us to acknowledge Him as the Messiah. If we don’t do it now, a day will come when we must acknowledge that but then it will be too late. Now is the appropriate time for it. Accept Him as Lord and Saviour.

Food for Thought: What are the implications of Jesus death for Man?

Memory verse: Matthew 27 verse 54

Prayer: Lord Jesus, may I acknowledge you now and always as my Lord and Saviour who died for me.

The Hour Has Come

From the death and resurrection of Christ, it is obvious that most times we have to go through some problems of life for the glory of God to be revealed in us.

Devotion for Wednesday (Holy Week) April 12, 2017

Topic: The Hour Has Come

Text: John 12:20 – 28

Beloved, what is your desire as a Christian? Is it to see Jesus and be part of His glory at the end of your life here on earth? This was the desire of these Greek who came to the disciples. When Philip and Andrew came and told Jesus, He made a startling revelation about His impending death. He painted a picture of the necessary sacrifice He was about to make. He asserts that unless a grain of wheat is planted in the soil, it will not become a blade of wheat producing many more seeds.

Jesus had to die to pay the penalty for our sin, and to show His power over death. His resurrection proves He has eternal life and can give it to us. The words of Jesus in John 12:26 suggest an answer to the inquiry of the Greeks or a charge He left with them. Jesus was troubled as He announced that the hour had come for His betrayal, crucifixion and death, and eventual resurrection. He prayed that God the Father should save Him but handed over everything to the will of God.

Here, Jesus threw a challenge to us. When we are suffering and going through problems of life, how do we take it? From the death and resurrection of Christ, it is obvious that most times we have to go through some problems of life for the glory of God to be revealed in us. My life was a clear testimony about this. Jesus requested God to glorify His name and a voice answered Him. We should always submit to God‘s will so He can glorify Himself in all we do.

Food for Thought: John 17:1

Memory verse: John 12 verse 23

Prayer: God, glorify yourself and perfect your will in my life in Jesus name. Amen.

No Excuse (V)

Devotion for Thursday March 16, 2017

Topic: No Excuse (V)

Text: Revelation 3:1 – 6

The problem in the church at Sardis was spiritual death. In spite of its reputation for being active, the church was filled with sin. Its deeds were evil, which soiled their clothes. There was no word of commendation for it that looked so good on the outside but was so corrupt on the inside. God urged them to obey the truth they had heard when they first believed in Christ and to get back to the basics of the faith.

The reason for this admonition is because He did not find their works perfect before Him. He charged them to be watchful and to strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die (3:2, 3). Where iniquity abounds grace also abounds. God noted that there were few names that did not defiled their garments. This was personal commendation for some members of this church and not general commendation. Is there any lesson for us in this personal commendation? Though it is important to grow in our knowledge of Christ, to deepen our understanding through careful study, we must never abandon the basic truths of our faith.

On facial observation, this church looked good but not so with God. They were only doing ‘maintenance service.’ There were no innovations or improvement on what they had. This gave room for redundancy, complacency and spiritual death. Is such condition obtainable in your church that you have now become spiritually dead? That is no excuse before God. Few people in Sardis still maintained their salvation. Why can’t you remain focused in the faith? Why will you allow the spiritual death of others to affect you? God can’t accept that excuse (Romans 2:1). Repent now and return to God.

Food for Thought: Do you have the reputation of being alive but you are dead?

Memory verse: Revelation 3 verse 2

Prayer: Lord God, help me to strengthen what is alive in me and to repent of my sins in Jesus name.

The News About The Death Of Prince James Uche Made Today A Sad Day For Me

The News About The Death Of Prince James Uche Made Today A Sad Day For Me

Whenever I read or hear about the death of someone as a result of kidney failure, it hurts and makes me sad. Today, I read about the death of Nollywood actor, James Uche. It made me somber, and I have remained indoors since morning. This is how they would have reported about my death in 2003 but God gave me unprecedented grace that has kept me alive till death. When I hear about the death of someone who died as a result of Kidney failure, I have reasons to mourn because it could have been me after passing the road two times.

The news posted on and culled from Daily Sun Newspaper has it thus: “WE THE CAMPAIGN TEAM; CHIOMA OKOYE, RITA EDOCHIE, EMEKA OJUKWU (TORINO), EJIRO OKURAME (SAVEPRINCEJAMESUCHECAMPAIGNTEAM). We regret to be the bearers of this sad news, but our COLLEAGUE, father, husband [PRINCE JAMES UCHE) passed on Wednesday following complications from diabetes blindness, HBP, kidney. He has been experiencing fever, strange blood infection, and strange blisters on his legs for the past three days after he secured his Visa before he passed on today Wednesday March 8th in the Ambulance on his way for Dialysis at 2:15pm. He was meant to travel this Saturday March 11th to India for his surgery… We sincerely want to thank everyone who donated to save this great man…we shall keep you all posted…, Actress Ejiro Okurame wrote.”

Despite the effort made by these people, the man died. His death would have been prevented because the blindness was caused by diabetes and all other things mentioned above are preventable through healthy lifestyle. If he had known his status on time, it wouldn’t have deteriorated to this level of death. My sincere prayer is that his soul will rest in peace. Amen.

It is proper to stated here that kidney disease can be cured if noticed on time but when it has failed, it has no permanent cure. Dialysis and transplant are mere treatment. As I am writing this, I am still living on drugs after 13 years of transplant. The best way to avoid kidney disease which can come from so many risk factors like heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, obesity high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnea, fatty liver, gall bladder disease, osteoarthritis, various cancers, mental disorders, and poor quality of life is to live a healthy lifestyle. Living a healthy lifestyle doesn’t cost money. It is affordable both by the rich as well as the poor. Therefore begin to live a healthy lifestyle from today.

Secondly, when I hear that people are looking for about N10m (Ten Million Naira), it amazes me because I know that someone can confidently do a transplant with about N6m (Six Million Naira) or even less. But most people demand for so much because they need money to pay their donor. You don’t have to pay for donor. Every human being can live a total and complete life with one kidney. In fact the extra kidney in our body is just a support. You can live without it. PLEASE DON’T SELL OR BUY KIDNEYS. GIVE IT FREELY TO YOUR LOVED ONES WHO MAY NEED THEM AND YOU WILL LIVE A HAPPY AND FULFILLED LIFE.

Another way to avoid kidney disease and eventually kidney failure is to KNOW YOUR STATUS ON TIME. It doesn’t cost much to know your status. Just ask your doctor to prescribe kidney function test for you. When you know your status on time, it will help you to live well and treat it when it is at the early stage. You should note that kidney failure doesn’t show any sign until it gets to the fourth and last stage which is called End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). When it gets to this fourth stage, it becomes irredeemable. You will then need dialysis and transplantation to live. Unfortunately, dialysis and transplantation are very expensive. Therefore, KNOW YOUR KIDNEY STATUS NOW before you will start crying had I known. Live healthy and save your tears.

Lastly, I want you to know that having passed through this road twice and with my present experience within the past 13 years, I have become a semi-consultant. This morning, someone called me to make inquiry about heart operation in India. I gave her the best advice she can’t even get from some doctors in Nigeria. IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM ABOUT KIDNEY OR ANY OF YOUR RELATION HAS KIDNEY PROBLEM, CONTACT ME. YOU CAN EASILY ASSESS ME ON FACEBOOK – Tabugbo Morgan Uzoma. I will give you medical treatment options or if you are not comfortable asking from me, you can contact me and I will direct you to my people in India where you will pay less than what people quote here and you will still get quality service. Save someone today by making contact.

Kidney disease doesn’t have permanent cure but you can treat it and live long with a healthy lifestyle. If you are still in doubt and have any question, contact me on Facebook and we will chat on LETS TALK ABOUT OUR KIDNEY.

To all those that have died as a result of kidney diseases and failure, may you all find rest in the bosom of the Lord. Rest in peace Prince James Uche!
